I'm Shawn Joseph Johnson, everybody calls me J.J... Born in 1949 in Cleveland Ohio. Spent most of my teen years in Los Angeles, moved to Fresno in the late 70's to focus on family and career . Went to Fresno city college, majored in reproduction graphics and later switched to art.

I married, have three boys who can all do art. I worked several jobs before opening J.J. Signs and Art in 1985. I love the sign business and am happy to have found a niche. I'm very thankful for my wife and sons who allow me time to do art.

It's been a fight all my life to be me. Society likes everybody cut and dry, formed in a vacuum, where all the variables and is thinking is controlled. Get a good education so you can find a good job is the concept I was to embrace. Study hard to become a artist never entered the equation, I was born an artist, and never longed to work for someone else. It was imperative that I do art and be self reliant. Despite sublime and overt diversions, I never compromised my desires. Today I am self employed artist, who creates , fine art paintings, ceramics and mixed media sculpture, and commercial signs
